PLAYGROUND & PARK IMPROVEMENTS, UPCOMING:

-Waiola Park: We are pleased to announce that we have received the OSLAD grant, allowing us to advance to the next phase of our project. We are currently focusing on developing the construction designs and initiating the bidding process. The design for Waiola Park has been approved, and we anticipate commencing the project between March or April of 2025.

-Stone Park: Renovations of Stone Park are scheduled to begin the week of August 26th. This will include the playground and basketball court replacements, which means that the entire park will be closed through the renovation process. We are hoping the park will open late September, but the timeline will be weather dependent. Thank you for the patience and understanding as we work to improve our community space.

After a community survey, the Board approved the project and plans at the May 2024 Board Meeting. (See the proposed plans below)

The PDLG Comprehensive Master Plan was approved by the Board in November 2022, and the District is now moving forward with exploring the feasibility of completing projects indicated by our residents through the master planning phase.

The Park District intends to apply for an OSLAD grant this year for Gilbert Park that will be announced the following year, if it is awarded.

Managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant program is a state-financed, matching grant program that provides funding assistance to local government agencies for acquisition and/or development of land for public outdoor recreation areas.  To learn more about OSLAD grants, click HERE.
