We’re excited to move forward with our referendum projects. We can share a tentative timeline—but please note, the schedule is subject to change pending permits.
We’ll continue to provide updates as more details become available.

Week of August 4: Construction fencing will be installed at Community Park and Rotary Park, with demolition scheduled to begin the following day.

July 11, 2025: Elm and Spring Parks are projected to begin construction the week of July 21. Due to their smaller size and the scope of work, both parks will be fully closed during the construction period to ensure public safety.

Work at Gordon, and Denning is projected to begin in early to mid-to-late August. These start dates are dependent on the approval of permits from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD), which are currently pending.

May 23 Update: Even with a brief delay, we are still on track for substantial completion by October 4, 2025.

May 8th Update: We appreciate the community’s patience as work at Waiola Park was temporarily delayed. During excavation, a large amount of organic fill was discovered, requiring a solution to properly support construction. To ensure we remained fiscally responsible and in compliance with our OSLAD Grant requirements, the revised plan was submitted to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. We’re happy to share that approval was received this week, and construction will resume early next week.

Exciting news! We received the necessary permits, and the Waiola Park improvement project began on the week of March 10th. The substantial completion deadline is October 4th, though we hope to finish sooner. However, scheduling can be challenging, as the completion date depends on weather conditions, material lead times, and the restoration process.

For the safety and security of the community, Waiola Park will remain closed during renovations. We appreciate your patience and support as we work to enhance this beloved space.

We will continue to provide updates via our website, social media, and e-blasts. Stay tuned for more details as the project progresses!

Thank you for your understanding and enthusiasm—we can’t wait to welcome you back to an improved Waiola Park!

We are thrilled to announce that the referendum has passed, and we’re so excited to move forward with the next steps for the Park District of La Grange!

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing updates about timelines, plans, and how these improvements will enhance our parks and facilities.

Thank you for your support and trust—it’s because of you that we can continue to grow and make a positive impact. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

Park Updates

The PDLG Comprehensive Master Plan was approved by the Board in November 2022, and the District is now moving forward with exploring the feasibility of completing projects indicated by our residents through the master planning phase.

The Park District intends to apply for an OSLAD grant this year for Gilbert Park that will be announced the following year, if it is awarded.

Managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant program is a state-financed, matching grant program that provides funding assistance to local government agencies for acquisition and/or development of land for public outdoor recreation areas.  To learn more about OSLAD grants, click HERE.
