Unplug Illinois – Parks & Recreation Month

July is a busy month in the Parks & Recreation field as we celebrate Unplug Illinois and Parks & Recreation Month. Unplug Illinois is a program of the Illinois Park & Recreation Association encouraging people to get out, unplug, play and engage with one another. To commemorate the annual Unplug Illinois event we are hosting “Chalk the Park” at Waiola Park on Saturday July 10th from 10a-12p. Individuals, families or groups can decorate the sidewalk and walkways of the park with sidewalk chalk. Check in starts at 10am! We supply the chalk, you supply the creativity! Every July we celebrate NRPA’s (National Recreation & Parks Association) Park & Recreation Month. Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories — moments that park and recreation professionals help make happen. Throughout the month, be on the lookout on our Facebook page for fun facts, challenges and games to spotlight our 10 parks and the facilities that the Park District of La Grange has. You may learn about features in our parks that you never knew were there. Whether you just moved in or lived here your whole life, there’s always something new to explore. Up for a challenge?
