PDLG COVID-19 UPDATES

Update July 29th

DCEO All Sports Policy – On July 29th, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity released a new All Sports Policy, effective August 15, 2020. This guidance under the Restore Illinois Plan pertains to all youth and adult recreational sports, including, but not limited to, school-based sports (IHSA & IESA), travel clubs, private leagues and clubs, recreational leagues and centers, and park district sports programs.

The Park District of La Grange is reviewing this information and our staff will be restructuring and altering programs to meet the guidelines as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work to provide quality alternatives to areas within programs that do not allow competitive play. Once our plans are finalized, we will update our patrons and community on our Park District’s website at www.pdlg.org. Participants registered in any current programs that are effected by these guidelines will be emailed updates.

Governor Pritzkers Stay-at-Home order has been extended through May 30th and all programs will remain cancelled and facilities closed at a minimum through this time. The Park District continues to closely monitor the situation and follow the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) as well as all state and federal mandates and guidelines. Here are some updates...

  • Parks and Playgrounds- Per state orders, playgrounds, and park equipment are still closed. This still includes basketball, tennis courts, baseball fields, pavilions, and the skate spot at Gordon. However, open space and trails will remain open as long as visitors adhere to social distancing, this includes maintaining at least a minimum of the 6-feet distance between people. At this time, any gathering of groups at district parks is prohibited. After updated state orders are released, we will inform the community of any approved openings. The staff continues to maintain parks and pick-up garbage. Thank you to this great community for following the guidelines.
  • Safety First! District staff is working diligently on updating all cleaning and safety precautions in preparation for reopening. This includes shield panels installed at all Service Desk areas and hands-freeStep-and-Pull door opening mechanisms installed various doors. As always, hand sanitizers will also be available throughout the facilities. Research is being done on various other cleaning, sanitation, and safety updated best practices as we prepare to reopen. The staff is looking to limit the number of touchpoints in our facilities and make changes where possible.
  • The 2020 Summer Brochure & Registration As the COVID-19 situation remains unpredictable, the 2020 Summer program registrations, including Summer Day Camp registrations, have been put on hold through May 13th. If you would like to register for a program you will automatically be put on the waitlist via the online registration system. When registration opens back up, participants will be contacted to be accepted off of the waitlist and will be advised of any changes to the program; payment will be required within 48 hours of being contacted to be placed in the class. Staff continues to work on exciting Summer programming ideas that are adaptable and changes to Summer program offerings will be made to assure the health and safety of all participants and staff. • Reopening- As of today, we do not have a reopening date to announce. What we do know is that things will look a little different when the time comes to reopen. As most of you have probably seen, health officials are recommending phases to re-opening. We are in the process of developing guidelines for those phases, as well as, waiting for direction from the CDC before we post the new guidelines. Once we have the guidelines established, we will post them on our website. We are very excited to open our doors, however, the safety of our members, staff, and community is imperative when we reopen.
